Clean Code
Regularly websites get built by two different teams. On one side you have the creative guys and on the other side is the development team.
The creative team cooks up some pretty pictures and when they are satisfied in the coolness of their graphics they hand their pictures off to the development team. These are the guys that make your head spin with technical jargon. They take the graphics from the creative team and turn it into code. Both teams are equally important to the success of a site, but their is usually friction between them because they have different goals. The developer is willing to sacrifice visual refinement for efficient and beautiful code. The designer doesn’t care how it works as long as it looks great.
If you study the really good websites you will notice that they have found a way to overcome the designer vs. developer friction.
If you study the really good websites you will notice that they have found a way to overcome the designer vs. developer friction. The best way to do this is to destroy the wall between the teams. You need someone who can live in both worlds and nagivate the storms that inevitably haunt most web projects. At Cath3dral we only have one team. Our designers are developers and our developers are designers. That’s why our sites have clean code and look great.
